Mariana Walter

Dr. Mariana Walter is an ecological economist and political ecologist based at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology, Autonomous University of Barcelona (ICTA-UAB). Her research addresses extractive industries, social metabolism, socio-environmental conflicts, environmental justice, knowledge co-production and social transformations. She is part of the Direction and Coordination group of the Environmental Justice Atlas (www.ejatlas.org), a global registry of socio-environmental struggles. She is currently the scientific coordinator of the Envjustice project (www.envjustice.org). Before joining the envjustice she was researcher and scientific coordinator of the ACKnowl-EJ international Project (Academic and Activist Co-production of Knowledge for Environmental Justice, www.acknowlej.org). She has published her work in books and journals such as Extractive Industries and Society, Global Environmental Change, Ecological Economics, Geoforum, Land Use Policy and Local Environment.
