Applying for admission to the program
The application period for the 7th edition (2024/2025) is NOW CLOSED and the program is full. We encourage new applicants to apply next year.

Nota Bene: make sure your documents have been uploaded correctly to UAB and you have received notice of receipt from the UAB and acceptance from the coordination of the master email address listed above. Once you have received your acceptance via both channels, then proceed to complete payment and perform final enrolment via UAB. For all UAB platforms please contact the UAB.

The admission process serves to ensure that all students meet the program’s requirements and thus guarantee an optimal work environment during the course. To apply for admission you can do it online or in person, and in both cases, you will need to provide the required documents. This will be done by applying through the UAB platform. On the UAB interface, you will register and once you receive notice of admission, then there is another step called enrolment. More info below.
Amount:
30.21 € (fixed registration fee, non-refundable and not included in the program price).
If you choose to pay by POS (card) you will need to complete the payment during the application process, inside the application.

Very important: before registering in the application, you must carefully read the information you will find on this page to have the required documentation ready and confirm that you meet the access requirements and that the registration process is open.
The application interface will ask you to specify the codes of study and edition of the program to which you want to enroll. Data from this program are: Study: 3853 and Edition: 7
To start the application you need a NIU (UAB’s University Identification Number). Choose the appropriate option for your case:
- Application with NIU: if you are a UAB student and remember your NIU and password (if you have any doubts, please check the Application handbook or the video tutorial below in this page):

- Application without NIU: if you’re not a UAB student or can not remember your NIU and password (if you have any doubts, please check the NIU obtention handbook, the Application handbook or the video tutorials below):
Online application without NIU
On the online inscription platform here (which is only available in Catalan and Castilian) you will be asked to sign up in the UAB system by entering your personal data in “Datos identificativos”, “Datos personales” and “Datos de contacto del solicitante”. You’ll obtain the NIU (i.e. University identification number) and be able to log in the system here.
Then, you have to look for the master program 3853/7 – Political Ecology, Degrowth and Environmental Justice and do the pre-registration (pre-inscripción) by submitting your documentation and pay the administrative fee. It is at this moment when you will choose the stream of EITHER Research skills or Professional skills, which both show up as Optional, not Obligatory. Do not chose both.

Exact dates for 2024 will be updated here. Since 2024/25 we are starting late, the dates will be pushed back a bit, but we still try to stick the the original plan as much as possible.
FIRST PERIOD
Application for admission from May 1st to June 31st. Admission will be communicated between July 1st and July 15th.
SECOND PERIOD
Application for admission from July 1st to July 31st. Admission will be communicated between in the first 2 weeks of August.
EXTRAORDINARY PERIOD
Application for admission in September
We encourage early applications within the first and second application period. Only in the event of places remaining once the second period is finished will the coordination prolong it by opening up the extraordinary period of application.

– CV with 2 contacts for references
– Motivation Letter (max 2 pages)
Admission requirements
– Undergraduate degree (What if I don´t have an official diploma at the time of applying but will have one by the time the course starts?Please read the formal requirements of the bachelor’s degree here.)
– Certification of written and spoken English. If you do not have this certificate already, please take this self assesment test and include the result in your application: https://www.efset.org/? (for native speakers, or those who have studied in English speaking universities, this should be apparent in your application)
Selection criteria
The selection of students will be carried out taking into account:
– Relevant studies (40%)
– Relevant experience (30%)
– Motivation (30%)
Notice of admission
The admission resolution will be sent to the e-mail address you specify when you fill the application and when you receive notice of admission from the master´s direction and coordination (from UAB and from our coordination email address).
The resolution will not be published on the web. All communication will be via e-mail.
Be sure to check your e-mail spam folder. Sometimes messages are treated as spam.
Enrolment
Once you have been admitted and have received the Notice of Admission, you must confirm your enrollment by registering on the UAB website within 10 days. If by that date we haven’t received your registration via the UAB platform as well, we will concede your spot to the next suitable applicant. Please only register if you are sure you will do the masters and you are able to pay the tuition fee according to the information below.
Important: Registration via the Universidad Autonoma de Barcelona platform is a multi- step process whereby you submit the necessary documents, they are validated by the university, you receive notice of admission, then you have to enrol and pay the tuition fee. Only once you have received notice of enrolment from the UAB is the process of registration complete.

- By bank transfer.

Remember that if you enroll online, it will be necessary for you to send the application documentation to the Graduate School via certified mail. You can also bring it in person, with previous appointment), either the certified copies or the original documents (they can be certified at UAB).
